Art Therapy
When words aren't enough, creativity can offer another path.
Sometimes our experiences, emotions, and stories are difficult to put into words. Art therapy offers another way of exploring your inner world through creativity, curiosity, and self-expression.
As a Registered Art Therapist (ATR), I integrate art-making into the therapeutic process as a tool for reflection, emotional processing, and self-discovery. Art therapy isn't about creating something beautiful or having artistic talent. It’s about the process of making, noticing, and discovering. Whether through painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, or simple creative exercises, art becomes another language for understanding yourself.
Creative expression can help access emotions that feel difficult to verbalize, deepen self-awareness, reduce stress, and foster new perspectives. For many people, creating with their hands offers a sense of grounding and connection that complements traditional talk therapy.
Art therapy is always an invitation, never a requirement. Some clients choose to incorporate creative expression regularly, while others use it only when it feels supportive. Together, we'll find an approach that honors your comfort, curiosity, and unique way of healing.
No artistic experience is necessary, only a willingness to explore.
Sometimes healing begins with curiosity—a color, a line, a shape, or a moment of play.

Not at all! Art therapy is about the process of creating, not artistic ability. No prior experience is necessary.
-
Art therapy does not require a perfect setup or a collection of fancy supplies. We may use whatever materials are available and meaningful to you—from drawing and painting to collage, journaling, mixed media, or everyday objects found around your home.
-
No. Art is always an invitation, never a requirement. Some sessions may focus on conversation, while others incorporate creative expression.

That's completely normal. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and there's never pressure to create anything "good." -
Art therapy includes the use of creative expression as another way to explore thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns. While talk therapy focuses primarily on verbal processing, art therapy offers an additional pathway for self-expression and reflection—especially for experiences that may feel difficult to put into words. No artistic experience is needed; the focus is on the process, not the final product.
